The Benefits Of Sound Healing For Focus And Concentration

Our Candlelit Sessions series are designed to encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day to light a candle, create a home sanctuary and do something mindful for yourself.

Sound healing is the practice of using different sound vibrations to improve our physical and emotional wellbeing. We spoke with Tasha, from Solaris Sound Healing, about the sound therapy benefits of this ancient practice and how it’s so vital in the modern day. Tasha has kindly created a sound bath meditation for focus and concentration, experience the sound healing benefits for yourself below…

Tasha Ponton from Solaris Sound Healing is a modern day spiritual healer and alchemist. She helps open-minded souls live a life full of freedom via her holistic toolbox of sacred sound, tarot reading and astrology. Tasha guides her clients through a sound bath meditation journey, using spiritual sound bowls, which clears out energetic density, so they can reclaim their power.

Spiritual sound healing

There are so many sound healing benefits, but there’s one area that I want to bring into focus today. In this modern world, humans are often in fight, flight or freeze mode, where the body's stress cycle is not completed, so in perpetual stress. This can lead to anxiety, overwhelm and sleep issues. Animals in the wild shake themselves to give a signal to their body that they are safe.

When stress is triggered in our bodies, our brains can perceive this as a deadly threat. This could be an off-key message from a friend, a work deadline, or an unpaid water bill. We get the adrenaline spike, and the stress cycle continues. This is unhealthy for our bodies to constantly endure. We may need that adrenaline to run away from a lion - but it won't help every time we get an unwelcome email.

Spiritual sound healing works to counteract this by something called entertainment. This is where strong energy attracts weaker energy. When we hear/feel/experience sacred sounds our energy entrains with the sounds and this helps complete the stress cycle. It helps us come back to our natural rhythm. This is why we feel so good after even a few minutes of experiencing sound healing. It helps clear the mind and release emotional and physical tension and discomfort, so we can get back to our lives with clarity and focus. This is why it is so freeing.

Sound healing benefits

Sound bath meditation can be brought into everyday life in quite a few ways. Listening to recorded or live sound healing is easier than you might think. I will be offering personal recordings soon to cater for this, or you can easily search on YouTube, Spotify or other areas online to get you going and explore what’s out there.

How we start the day is key to overall wellbeing, and sound healing can really help regulate us. Finding relaxing sound healing before you go to sleep is likely going to help you sleep better. Or from a speaker when you are in the bath is great for relaxation.

The next stage would be joining a live group sound bath meditation (in person or online) and then the next level up is a 1-2-1 session, where you get dedicated and focused attention (especially great for releasing stuck emotion that we might not even realise is there).

I am passionate about sound healing, especially regarding bringing it into everyday life, rather than a once is a blue moon treat. It’s the consistency and accumulation of this work that shows the best results. Although even just one sound healing session can make a huge impact, and that’s the beauty of this work.

Preparing your space for a sound bath meditation

Environment and atmosphere are so important. Think about creating a nourishing safe space. If you’re at home, get out your beautiful candles (there’s nothing quite like a flickering flame to awaken the senses), any crystals you may have and blankets and cushions. Always have a glass of water to hand. We’re aiming for ultimate comfort, creating a safe nest for you. It’s a good idea to energetically clear the space too. Ethically sourced Epoch London white sage sticks are great for this. Saging a room helps clear out energy that’s been hanging around. Cleansing smoke moves energy that we may not be able to see with our eyes. Remember to open a window though, otherwise the energy and smoke has nowhere to go!
